alcoholism isn't a question of how much you drink, it's whether you need to drink. Some people can drink 2 bottles of wine a day without being alcoholics. If the person drinking 3 glasses of wine a day suffers emotional or physical problems if they don't drink, the yes, alcoholism is likely.
-
Yes! That's 21 glasses a week! That's 84 glasses a month!
-
I'm encouraging her to talk to him - it seems like he hates her drinking but does not realise his boringness and lack of interest in their life is a contributing factor
-
Yes. Have you heard of a maintenance alcoholic? The person doesn't binge - they just drink enough to keep themselves at a certain level. They hold down a job etc., etc.
-
How old are you? If you're 20, three is going to be five in your thirties and a couple bottles, or the hard stuff, in your fifties. Spaniards have a great proverb. A glass of wine is very fine. Two is too many... because three is not enough.
-
I wouldn't think so.
-
Not necessarily. If you can miss those three glasses for several days and do not care about it while functioning normally without getting upset, aggressive or unstable, you are not an alcoholic. But, if just because you miss a glass of wine you react like if someone just stole your wallet....you have a problem! It has to do with the attitude you have regarding how important that wine is in your daily life. In other words, are you dependent or not on alcohol?
-
It depends if the person experiences craving for the wine. If yes, then maybe. It is really up to the person to admit it.
-
Not necessarily. As has been stated here already, if someone needs/craves the alcohol, then 3 glasses of wine could be a problem. The biggest thing with that much wine on a daily basis is that a person could easily start drinking a little more and a little more, leading to definite alcoholism.
-
If it is, I'm in trouble, because I drink 2 bottles most nights. I am very worried about my drinking and am online now looking for advice. I am 34 and never used to drink this much, five years ago I would only enjoy wine one day a week, and then it would be to share one bottle with my other half. To the person who said in a few years 3 glasses will become 5, two bottles in your 30s I completely agree - I'm there.
-
In all honesty, three glasses of wine a day is probably too much. I love wine...and I could easily drink 3 glasses a day but I don't because my sister started this way with drinking. She like a shot of whiskey every night after work to relax...now 2 years later...she is having 21 shots of whiskey a day and has no job, is losing her house, her belongings and her son. All of this because she wanted to relax and was in too, too deep before she realized that she had a real problem. Its sad and its scary and if it can happen to her it can happen to anyone. Its a slippery slope.
-
If one is addicted to this, yes. It's not the amount, it's the reliance.
-
No. It's not.
-
If you're addicted to those 3 glasses, then yes.
-
Not at all. The LORD said drink wine, it is my blood. So in my book that means you can have as much as you like. However I prefer his body. So I eat lots of bread. I like the type that has little seeds in it. HALLELUJAH!
-
I depends if it is possible for you to go without those glasses of wine without mental or physical adverse affect. Depending on sex and body mass a women is allowed 14 units per week and a man 21. Each unit is the equivalent of one 4 oz glass of wine
-
It depends. Do you NEED that wine every single day, or if you happen to be out one night can you go without rather than running up to the store to get it? Also, if the amount isn't increasing and hasn't increased drastically, then I think you're ok. Maybe cut down do one glass with dinner, or have your three glasses every three days, if you're concerned. Alcoholism is an addiction, though, so keep that in mind.

I drink 2 to 3, sometimes 4, have been for years. I am French, need I say more. I can go without for a few days, but miss my wine. I often wonder if I am an alcoholic, but I don't like the drunk feeling so I usually stop before that point. Any thoughts on this?

Please translate, I am not fluent in French, just French heritage.
