The pop up ads always amuse me when a GAY type question shows up! He is cute! To answer your question: I don't know. Christians should be more tolerant and open-minded, remembering that they are not man's judge. BTW- any sin, is forgivable, should homosexuality qualify. Points for the question. I've been wondering where all the religious debate had gone.
-
Jodie, this is an excellent question. I think it illustrates the hypocrisy of religious zealouts who are quick to judge and renounce people and actions with which/whom they don't agree. I think Jesus didn't condemn homosexuality because he truly was tolerant and loving to all. I think it would greatly grieve Jesus to know that people are being cruel to others in his name. Whatever happened to "they'll know we are Christians by our love?" In my opinion, true Christians aspire to love and embrace everyone, and leave judgment to God.

Well I'm not really interested in challenging someone's personal views about this -- as long as they remain personal. It's bringing that kind of anti-gay talk out into public that deserves to be censured heavily. It's not really innocent: yes, it's free speech, and those who think gay = evil are entitled to their opinion and all that, and they have a right to speak their minds. So this is protected speech. But it's still harmful and wrong -- because it contributes to the conditions that promote discrimination and oppression of gays. It provides part of the justification for those who DON'T stop at just voicing their opinion. As to the viewpoint itself, it seems clear to me that the condemnations in the Bible are simply a reflection of the cultural norms at the time. I've known LOTS of gay people who are generous, honest, helpful friends, with commitments to important values. Anybody wants to send them to hell has lot of explaining to do. That's an ancient oppressive view, just like the view that slavery is acceptable is ancient and oppressive. Of course, Jesus didn't speak out against that either, so maybe there's more to this topic than meets the eye.
-
sure, I know that under our Constitution, citizens are guaranteed freedom of speech, so they should be able to say what they want. but the people who continue to rant and point fingers and condemn us are still wrong and doing more harm than they know. they are close-minded, ignorant bigots...plain and simple. they can claim to be Christian as much as they want, but who among us actually learned in church that it's OK to preach hatred and intolerance? isn't Christianity about love and acceptance? people who hate in the name of their religion are the worst of all (not just the extreme right-wing Christians...look at the extremist Muslims as well!). they are nothing but shameful. they can translate and retranslate and quote out of context all they want. but I doubt many of them have read the Bible cover to cover...and they always disregard all the other things the Bible says are "wrong" as well. this link I'm posting is very interesting reading. I received it in print form at our Pride fest last year. interesting website... http://www.soulforce.org/article/homosexuality-bible

I don't think he cared about it.

Jodie that is an excellent question. I consider myself a Christian though many don't because of my religious affiliation. That's ok though. In my heart I know I am a Christian and they can write as many hate books as they want trying to prove I am not. I weill never believe them til I meet Christ himself and he tells me I followed a cult and not a Christian faith. Jesus taught us that we are to love the sinner but hate the sin. The bible also says we are not to judge others otherwise we will be judged harshly fro doing so. It also says something about we are required as Christians to forgive. Unfortunately many Christian faiths forget these things and pick and choose the parts of the Bible they want to follow. Though my Church is no different when it comes to teaching that homosexuality is a mortal sin and is condemmable in the eyes of God. I have chosen to take a live and let live attitude towards it. Many in my Church think I am wrong for it but they are no one to judge me for my attitudes on such matters. I believe everyone in this world should have a chance to love and be loved. If someone chooses to love a person of the same sex it has no bearing on my life. I am not God to judge that person. If they want to love someone of the same sex I say more power to them for being so willing to risk having to deal with bigot's and their attitudes just to love someone and be loved in return. Christ said nothing about homosexuality being wrong because he believed it was more important to show love and compassion for those who were allegedly comitting sins than to condemn them for their actions. Look at the story of the adulteress. All thos so called holy righteous men wanted to stone her to death for cheating on her spouse. Christ tolds them let he who is without sin cast the first stone.
-
Having a gay son i dont think for one minute that he will go to so called hell,he is a wonderful lad helps people out, kind to animals, never slates anyone so even if he is gay he is a good person.
-
Jodie this is an ambush question in that if you say anything that other than "homosexuality is the greatest thing," your downrated big time. Now that's established, I can begin my soon to be downrated message: Homosexuality is a sin in the old testament. That's the message (I didn't write it by the way). Jesus did not speak of all 'sins' specifically. He simply said he came to fulfill the law not destroy it. By saying so, he enforced the law as it is written. He has also provided a message of hope. Turn away from sin as best you can, accept him as your saviour and your sins will be forgiven. All of them. We are all sinners and need salvation, homosexual or not.
-
One aspect that most people don't think about is that there is no sin that is lesser or more than any other sin. A sin is a sin and any one sin can send you to hell. I've researched the ancient texts that the modern bible was translated from. There are dramatic differences, mostly due to the bias of those translating and mis translations. I don't think that being gay is going to send me to hell. I know I have always been this way. If God wanted me to be straight, he would have made me be attracted to women. He didn't. I'm comfortable with God and I follow his teachings to the best of my ability.
-
Jesus actually did address a similar situation. There was a woman caught in the act of adultery. The towns people brought her to Jesus to see what he would say about her and what her punishment should be. The scriptures say that adultery is punishable by death from stoning and that was what the town's people wanted to do to her. Jesus, on the other hand, told the crowd, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." The people started to leave one by one until none were left to condemn her. Jesus told her since there was no one left to condemn her he wouldn't either. He told her to go and leave her life of sin. My point is that it's not our job to condemn people. We are not fit judges of other people's lives. God, through the Holy Spirit, convicts people of their sins and gives them the grace to overcome their sin. ONLY God can do this. It does us no good to condemn people for their lifestyles, whatever they may be, because we cannot provide the necessary grace to help them overcome. Heck, most of the time we aren't even right in our judgments. We can only know what the Holy Spirit convicts us for, not other people. Furthermore, what is sin for me may not be sin for you. For instance, if I have a problem with putting TV before God then for me watching TV is a sin. If you don't have that problem then, for you , watching TV isn't a sin. For things that are sinful for everyone, it's the Holy Spirit's job to handle that. If we had to see all the sin in our lives at once, none of us could stand it. So, what God does, in His mercy, is show us our sin a little at a time so that we aren't overwhelmed. Then He gives us grace to turn away from our sin. God, mercifully, does not condemn us, He convicts us. The difference is that conviction leads us to repentance, whereas condemnation leads us to the pit of dispair. Who, if they are showing the love of Christ in their lives, wants to cause his fellow man to live in dispair?
-
I think Jesus wanted to cover some new ground, select his apostles, prepare them and send them out to preach. There are plenty of other places in the Bible that address homosexual practices as a "no-no". Technically, I don't believe homosexuals go to "hell" when they die, I think perfect upstanding and heterosexual people end up in the grave too.
-
I'm not going to weigh in with my entire opinion on this one, because a lot of people have already given my answer. I would just add that Christ didn't come here to condemn any of us. He paid too much to have many exceptions. I would also add, that the folks running through town with the torches and pitchforks yelling "you queers are going to hell!", are some of the folks that most need saving. In my experience, they are the least educated, most theiving, fornicating and lying sonsabitches around. They forget that they shouldn't be worrying about the speck in their brother's eye, when they have a log in their own. We that condemn need just as much forgiving as we who select mates that have the same kind of skivvies. Of course by "we" I mean "those who choose"... I have a whole other list of sins I need to worry about.
-
As NITRODUCK has stated, Jesus didn't come into this world to condem it but that thru Him the world might be saved...having acknowledged that, let me say this; God gave us all free will to do as we please, he has made his laws clear and soon a day of judgement will befall us all. I agree also that many so-called Christians are fooling themselves and thinking that they are in-line with Gods word and yet they are wayyyyyy off base and, just like the homosexual, they will burn forever in a lake of fire.
-
I have two things to say on this: #1 The bible was not written in English. To take the King James or any of the other versions too literally is ridiculous (check out http://www.geocities.com/bible_translation/english.htm). #2 We do not live in the times of the Bible. Some of what they talk about doesn't mean the same as how it applies today. Furthermore, fundamentalists are going to want to hang me by my thumbs but I do believe to a certain extent in applying the Bible to today's world. If people cannot find the connection between scriptures and their day to day living it makes for a very Cold Christianity. There is back-up within the clergy that homosexuality is not a sin. These are two sites with an obvious bent but still a good message, the first I find interesting because of the differing backgrounds of the clergymen and the second I thought well written (which I now read someone else also suggested!): http://www.pflag-cornhusker.org/articles/eelavfekfewyfqrcdp.html http://www.soulforce.org/article/homosexuality-bible-gay-christian I added a third from Rabbis which I finally found, I had read this one previously and it is a little more balanced: http://home.earthlink.net/~ecorebbe/id18.html I hate intolerance!! ;)
-
he didn't ...only men did who put there own slant on what they think god should have said and wrote it down as his words and thoughts
-
I don't think that would be THE reason as much as not "ACCEPTING "Jesus christ as your lord and saviour.Once you accept Christ ,the Holy spirit does an awesome job of CONVICTING you of things you need to work on.he is a great teacher and an ever present friend. You'll know if is something you need change.
-
because.its not. in my opinion. its totally and completely fine.
-
God destroyed a whole city, for being a homosexual believing city. God would never create anybody to be something that he even himself called an ABOMINATION. So people that believe they were created Gay, it'z just in their head. And it's basically a spirit of the devil taken over their mind. In the beginning God Created ADAM AND EVE , not ADAM AND STEVE... so stick to the bibical facts, and don't create your own opinion basing it on pure stupidty and partial ignorance, and get mad, when other people don't agree with something you heard on TV about homosexuality being right. This is not a contervsial subject, homosexuality is wrong, plain as day. It's wrong because GOD DESTROYED A CITY FOR IT AND CALLED IT AN ABOMINATION as I said earlier. And for Redcatt, it's not preaching hatred, it's preaching the truth. And to preach about homosexuality being wrong, is the fuel for us Christians to go out and witness, catch you in your wrong, show you your wrong, pray for your wrong, and watch God use his celestial/heavenly powers, to dismiss the evil spirit of homosexuality from your body, and let you live your life in peace. And if you don't allow him too, and continue to live as a homosexual, I'm sad to say you will end up in hell. - I'm 14, and the reason I was able to say all of this is because, I actually listen in church, and because maybe God helped me reply to this =P
-
Here is an excellent website that addresses this question in detail: http://www.wouldjesusdiscriminate.com/ Christians who condemn homosexuals while eating pork and shaving their beards are picking and choosing their beliefs.
-
In the bible, homosexuality is condemned. (1 Corinthians 6:9) however, it is not anymore "hell-worthy" than any other sin. for example, a straight person that simply does not accept Christ as their savior will be in hell just the same because they did not accept God's gift of grace. I think its silly that everybody thinks Christians should be open minded, when Christ specifically instructs us to be on the narrow road. (Matthew 7:12-14) God is loving, but he is just. and christians aren't judging homosexuals, they are standing for what they think is right, God has already judged that sin, along with all others. and he still loves, as i do, all homosexuals. i have friends and family that are homosexual, and i love them just as much. i am just as concerned about their soul in the after life as my straight friend that doesn't know Christ. Is it discrimination to tell someone its wrong to steal? a sin is a sin is a sin. i don't discriminate because they are homosexual. but i still believe it is immoral. go ahead now, rate me down. lol. be discriminating and intolerant of me, in the name of tolerance.
-
I'll be quite frank. Jesus was God in the flesh. He had already dealt with homosexuality very early in the piece. Jesus didn't talk about a lot of specific sins whilst walking amongst us.. does that mean we can commit those sins? Ultimately, your choices are between you and God.. But when you ask a Christian (take me for instance) what is my stand and I answer that I believe homosexuality is sin, understand that it comes from what was written in the law. Let's not stop there though.. Anger, strife, seditions, hate, adultery, lying, stealing, abuse, fornicating etc etc etc are also sins. There are no 'levels' of sin. God hates sin SO MUCH that he took on a body of flesh that we may have redemption from that sin. We should seek His face & His Word to find our own convictions and abide and be prepared to stand by them in judgement. I am all about respecting opinions.. I think that the anti 'anyone' practice that occurs with a lot of Christians is terrible and non constructive. I will make comment on asweetguy4u's comment about the woman caught in adultery. This is often used and mis-used. Remember that Jesus forgave her, saved her from the punishment of the sin she had committed and told her. go. sin no more. I think that on your knees before God & in His Word are the only places anyone can find the true answers.
-
In general, people tend to vilify sins that they have no trouble with. If you aren't tempted to steal you think anyone who steals must be doing it as a simple willful act. Having not walked in those "sin shoes" it's hard for them to understand why they don't just not do it. Remember the "Just say NO" campaign? It seems simple to those who don't have addictive weaknesses, but laughable to those that have those weaknesses. There is also the "former sinner lashing out against those who do the same thing they did" figuring that if I could stop, why can't you? Folks don't understand that everyone is an individual and everyone has a temptation for some sin. Just because you can't see my sin doesn't mean it isn't there. My God sees it and he hates it as much as any other sin, be it murder, or gossiping, or taking his name in vain.
-
Well, (obviously) not everything Jesus said is included in the Bible. In fact when you consider that his ministry lasted three years, very little, overall is actually included in the Bible--a mere 178 pages or so. That means that a LOT of what Jesus said, taught, condemned etc. fell along the wayside. So, did Jesus specifically condemn homosexuality in his ministry? Maybe so, maybe not, but given that it was expressly forbidden in the Jewish law, my guess is that he would be against it.
-
First of all let me say, I completely understand the moral picture of homosexuals going totaly against nature. It's all through the bible and if you'd like, I would gladly do a cross reference, but that wouldn't be very fruitful! If we can't agree that sin is sin and there are no bigger sins and smaller sins then we can't truthfully come to a resolve on this issue and there's really no sense in even reading the remainder of this response. Homosexuality is no different than being a drug addict, alcoholic, porn-addict, etc... All those are life controlling issues which cause separation between God and man! Jesus came to remove the space between God and Man that sin put there(Homosexuality, addiction to drugs, alcohol, porn-addict, etc..). The sin of homosexuality has no difference than any other sin that has not been forgiven! If Jesus were here right now, in His all-inclusive rounds of the town and fellowshipping with sinners, He would include eating with the homosexuals to love them into a born-again life! Remember "stinkin thinkin" fails, but love never fails! 1 Cor 13:8
-
First, I have had gay friends. Love the sinner{we all are} hate the sin . Sin is Natural for mankind. Sex is Natural between a man and a woman.Sex with animals and sodomy is UnNatural. It was condemned in both Testaments. Sodomy was not only a sin,{which God hates all sin},it was an abomination{a great hatred and disgust for, despised}. God{who is UNCHANGING} began this with Genesis 2:22 he made woman for man. Next, HE CONDEMNED IT, quite vividly in destroying the men of SODOM and Gomorrah because the cities were full of HOMOSEXUALS!!!! Genesis 19:1-29. How BIG A PICTURE do we need. Two angels,{which the men wanted to sodomize}, were sent first to get Lot {the only righteous man there}and his family out.Matt.10:15 and Luke 17:29 mention these cities for comparison. Leviticus 18:22&23 God told Moses to tell the people: 22-thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind, it is an ABOMINATIION. 23-neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto. 1Kings 14:24 and there were also sodomites in the land:and they did according to all the ABOMINATIONS of the nations which the Lord cast out before the children of Israel. New Testament Romans 1:26&27 26- for this cause GOD gave them up unto VILE AFFECTIONS: for even their WOMEN did change the NATURAL use into that which is AGAINST NATURE. 27- and likewise also the men, leaving the NATURAL use of the woman, BURNED IN THEIR LUST one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, 1Corinthians 6:9 9-know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of GOD?? BE NOT DECEIVED:neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor EFFEMINATE{TRANSVESTITES, SOFT MEN}, nor ABUSERS OF THEMSELVES WITH MANKIND {GAYS}. Christ did not have to condemn it specifically , IT WAS A DONE DEAL FROM THE BEGINNING ,like the 10 Commandments. Sin is NATURAL. Abominations are UNNATURAL. The Israelites and Christians are NOT SUPPOSED TO ACCEPT into their way of life anymore than GOD did. But like the the Bible said it would "homosexuals will be demanding to be accepted as NATURAL.....and life goes on for NOW.
-
because he was fine with it
-
Jesus said in John 3:17~ "for God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." Jesus came with a ministry of reconciliation of the sinner to God, if the sinner forsakes his sin and believes God. The ministry of condemnation came through Moses and other Old Testament prophets, specifically through God's law. Jesus did not need to repeat that job- it had already done. The law already shows nicely where we fall short of God's standard, and why we aren't good enough on our own. That's where Jesus steps in and shows us a way out- salvation through His crucifixion and resurrection. He would warn of condemnation- but only in the context of the law that was already set down by Moses. Jesus Himself did say that no portion of God's Law, not even the smallest part, would pass away. In other words- that it was still valid in His time, and would be valid afterword.
-
Because Jesus was good and intelligent and he NEVER would have condemned it! He stood for truth and love!
-
Heck, if you around with 12 'sailors' or fishermen and had long flowing locks , open toed sandals and a caftan to make Roman centurions jealous, would you 'cast the first stone' to take a leaf out of J.C'S book and dont forget he liked to party, remember the loafs and fishes , so he was great at catering as well, need I say more.
-
Jesus was too busy loving people, healing folks, helping children and having fun!
-
in my opinion there "might" not even be a god. even in religion they say "god created all in his image" but then say "homosexuality is a sin" if were in his image then why is it wrong to be gay? so my answer is dont waste time thinking about it.
-
because jesus was probably gay too, or at least bi, i mean come one, all those night in the desert with guys who had forsaken their wives, alone, for weeks at a time. its like brokeback mountain but with camels
-
He actually head a centurion's sex partner and said he had more faith than all of Israel. A gay Roman soldier, more faith than the people of God. Haha, Jesus rocks.
-
lots of things in the Bible aren't specifically written out. Some things are "hidden" or have "clues. God said sodom and gomorrah was a sinful place. They practiced homosexuality there. He did not approve of it.
-
And why do Christians break all kinds of rules and commandments? They are all sinners but like to grab onto one phrase in the Bible of how another man shouldn't sleep next to another man and condemn their brothers and sisters. What about working on The Sabbath? Why pick on people that are just as much a part of nature? Jesus was a great philosopher and probably had a good understanding of nature. It's hard to imagine that he would make such a fuss over a natural phenomena. This world that "God" created is full of natural aberrations. Garden worms are asexual, male sea horses carry the eggs till the are mature, hermaphrodites are found in many different species of animals. Did he make a mistake or is this more the grand scheme of things?
-
He wasn't put on Earth to condemn. He was put on Earth to provide an example, and teach people how to live.
-
Because Jesus was a nice guy.
-
I think, and someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but homosexuality didn't exist in the same way back then. Obviously people were homosexual - but society didn't see them as having a different sexual orientation to people who were straight. The ancient greeks were very open about homosexual sex, but often had hetrosexual sex with wives aswell, and didn't consider themselves homosexual. So Jesus didn't condem homosexuality becasue there was nothing to condem, the verses in the bible condeming it are often taken out of context anyway, and are mostly the writers opinions rather than holy law.
-
innocently enough, i went and asked him. this is how are meeting went : he was behind his desk, and was takin notes at my posture and presentation, when i asked him if gays go to heaven. simply for answerbag sake, i needed a straight answer. Well, he started to tell me how we are all unique snowflakes on top of a mountain, and each snowflake has a purpose and blah blah blah. he was beatin around the bush (no pun intended). Then i told him thats not true, as he raised an eyebrow at me. i might have crossed the line. i told him thats not it at all. i told him there is nothing to it like that, nothing at all. that we are just human, and that we just ARE. we just simply exist. he snarled and i walked away. THE END yeah well, whatever, you cant teach Jesus anything.
-
He didn't. The Going-to-hell-worthyness was just made up by men, not Jesus. That's the problem with religion. It gets twisted to suit someone's idologies.
-
Whether you are Gay or not that won't mean you go to heaven or hell. Jesus came to earth to die so that the sins of everyone may be forgiven. We all sin, we all deserve to be cast away from God. But because of his sacrifice we can all be forgiven, we can all freely come to him. God doesn't look at us, looking for whether we're Gay or Straight. If we've accepted Jesus, God will see that we've been forgiven and that is what gets you into heaven
-
As a man that loves another man I will give you my thought. I have excepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and so has my partner. We attend church, read the bible and worship God. I know in my heart that the act of having intercourse with another man is wrong. And trust me the holy spirit convicts me dearly. And I believe that God will deliver us from that urge and sensation. I also have prayed and believe my partner will be in my life for a very long time. As I prayed to God I rather have him in my life than not at all so take away those wicked thoughts. I see nothing wrong with loving another man. How I act upon that love is what is wrong and ungodly. Jesus is my salvation and he is a loving God. I will be judged by him and I will enter and live in his kingdom. Lord God have mercy on those who judge. You are the King of King and Lord of Lords. Amen
-
He didn't need to, God did. Remimber Sodom and Gamorra
-
He was too busy hanging out with Mary Magdellin(sp?)and drinking wine at parties:) Actually, if you think about it, he didn't have a problem with 12 guys hanging out together all the time. Today we call that sports....just more guys playing on the same team. (and that's not how I mean it) Bottom line, I don't think he cared and the guys (apostles) had to justify themselves as men. Remember, the guys were just men and the ones who wrote the Bible (whichever version)had a vested interst. If you were queer and it was frowned upon and you could end up on a cross, what would you write? Personally, in my opinion, there are far too few females in that allegorical tome we call the Bible.
-
Most likely Jesus didn't give a "rats behind" about homosexuality - and I'm for following the old boys example on the subject.
-
homosexuality is no more a "going to hell worthy trait" than sex outside of mairage. so don't worry, you won't be alone.
-
Because Jesus was a mellow dude.
-
Didnt really exist then too often, and when it did pop up, EVERYONE was in agreement they were satans work. So were many other things that we think nothing of NOW though. The bible was writeen 2000 years ago, so just modernize it a bit, and gays a perfectly safe
-
Someone had illicit photos of him with an apostle. There wasn't much he could do.
-
Because it's not wrong, nor is anyone going to hell, but go ahead, and believe that b/s if it makes you feel better.
-
Anyone notice that THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY...also neglected to mention Homosexuality in the 10 COMMANDMENTS? And this was during the Old Testament times...before Christ was born and lived to give us the NEW WAY...died and was risen to take on ALL OF OUR SINS! Sure seems to me, as a Christian, that if God thought it was a sin, HE would have managed to say something specific about it in either the 10 Commandments or through Christ, His Son! Peter, who did address it in the New Testament, did not condone ANYONE getting married, unless the MAN, burned so with lust as to prevent him from having a spiritual relationship and worship of God.
-
Jesus is often portrayed with soft, rounded, feminine features. The Biblical narratives reveal an effeminate, if not feminine, personality. It's hard to find passages in which he is described as a man, let alone 'manly.' Throughout history, many paintings show Jesus as soft, radiant, almost glowing. This doesn't prove he was homosexual, but it indicates that many artists have thought they should portray him as delicate and feminine. Even if he didn't perform overt homosexual acts with other men he may well have been a latent homosexual, and he continues to appeal to gay men today, both lay and clergy. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=jesus+gay+&btnG=Search If Jesus had gay lovers, they have been purged from the scriptures. Many other books of what we call "The Bible" have also been tossed aside by the scribes and clerics who transcribed the paleographs. In the first few centuries, Jesus and Christianity were carefully shaped, revised, and managed to present what the bishops thought was appropriate. Was Jesus gay? We don't know, and it hardly matters to most of us.
-
John 13:23 "One of them, the disciple whom Jesus loved, was reclining next to Him." John 19:26 declares, "When Jesus saw His mother there, and the disciple whom He loved standing nearby, He said to His mother, 'Dear woman, here is your son.'" John 21:7 describes, "Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" Some say this is the disciple John which would admit that Jesus had no problem of one man emotionally loving another.
-
gotta love people who are so obsessed with acceptance that they reject any conservative notion that there are sins which are not fit to be crimes (ie homosexuality, suicide, premarital sex) the bible does condemn homosexuality (except maybe the new translations which are reworded to fit what the translators want it to say.) jesus didn't condemn it specificaly because that law was already in place. now, allow me quote "the time machine" to all you who will down rate me and have those other sincere answers... "if you do not like the answer you should avoid asking the question."
-
the fact is, it's not. not even discussing the question of whether or not it's a sin, no sin sends you to hell. no one can ever say "you're going to hell for that" no matter what it is, because the only person who can decide your fate is God. and he chose to give us all the option of repentence and forgiveness. that's what salvation is. we're all sinners. but we can all be forgiven.
-
Jesus took on our humanness and so to really know that humanness He too may have engaged in Self-Pleasure, Masturbation. And he being sinless,it wouldn't of been a sin for him to do so. And Self-Love,Masturbation. No matter how you slice it or dice it. It's a male loving himself or a female loving herself, And it's just another form of Homosexuality. Where we enjoy our own Homosexuality, But we don't share our bodies with another living body. He didn't condemn himself for Homosexuality, so why should you?
-
He didn't have to. Homosexuality was not considered an important issue to the people of his time. In ancient Greek and Roman societies gay and bisexual behaviors were rampant enough to be considered normal and harmless and were celebrated in their artworks. Many of the Roman elite including emperors had wives and children and also while married had male lovers often young male lovers, and it just wasn't considered to be a social problem like it is today in the still repressed times that we live in. Read the book "Holy Homosexuals". This site also explains the whole issue pretty well. http://www.soulforce.org/article/homosexuality-bible-gay-christian. The Jews only condemned homosexuality (as well as masturbation and having sex with a woman on her period) in the Old Testament because they were always outnumbered and they wanted as many babies to be born as possible because they need more people to fight their enemies. Leviticus was intended to be a holiness code for priests only and not for the whole population to follow. The scriptures were politically motivated even back then. In the New Testament times if you maximized the number of babies born to Christians then you would have more Christians. I believe that was really all there was to it. The issue was not that homosexuals were bad just not procreative. People today fail to understand that. IMHO since we have already multiplied and filled the earth so to speak that there is no longer any reason to maximize the number of babies born. Preachers today get their power from maximizing the number of people in their congregations so these politically motivated practices continue in the name of God. Enough already! the bible fails to tell us what to do when the world is overpopulated to the point of massive environmental destruction and massive species extinction. As Christians we must find new answers about what to do after we have already filled the earth with people lest we rape and destroy God's green earth.

Jesus brought a new Commandent. Love God above all things and love one another as He loves us" He also said judge not.
-
The only "going-to-hell-worthy" sin is to not love God. None of us are perfect. God knows that. He gave us free will.
-
Jesus didn't come to condemn anyone, He came to save the lost.
-
god says marriage is man and women. it is a sin. god forgives people for there sins if you will open your heart to him and ask for forgivness then he will and you will nnot go to hell for your sins

The Bible written prior to Jesus Christ has nothing to do with Jesus's teaching. Jesus's core teachings were more similar to Sakyumuni Buddha's teaching and centralled on compassion to all, even thy enermy !(that's identical but separated by at least 500 years !) and is very different to a teaching of a vengeful and jealous God in the Old Testament. This answers why Jesus did not condemn homosexuality because the Buddha did not condemn ANYONE since true compassion is unconditional. Infact, in 1887, Nicolas Notovitch, a well known and respected Russian journalist at the time, made a perilous journey deep inside the mountains of the Himalayas where he visited a secluded Buddhist monastery when upon gaining the confidence of the monks he was given access to the ancient manuscripts that told of Jesus Christ had been there before to study the teachings of the Buddha. For the whole text written by Nicolas Notovitch, titled "The Unknown Life Of Jesus Christ", which he translated from the old manuscripts, you can visit: http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/uljc/index.htm

The story of sodom and gomorrah should be enough. J.C. did'nt specifically tell anyone to jump off a bridge either.
-
Why He didn't is quite simple, If Jesus is Love, and he is,then he love you just the way you are. "God so loved the Homosexual, that he gave his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, And all who believe upon him shall not perish but shall have eternal-life". ( The Douglas Bible).

Christianity, like other religions, is based on fables and parables. It doesn't really exist. The bible doesn't mention homosexuality because back then it was no big deal.
-
Sorry, but your answer isn't the words of Jesus. It's the words of St. Paul. The words may be divinely inspired, but it doesn't make them the words of Jesus.
-
Most possible he practice it himself.
-
Those arent Jesus words. Paul is talking about those who have “exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.” Verse 25 makes the point clear. They “worshipped and served created things rather than the Creator.” In a word, this entire chapter deals with idolatry.

You need to learn about what the Bible actually says, rather than what you want to think it says. Oh and learn a little biblical history while you're at it and stop being an ignorant bigot with a borderline personality disorder.

You don't learn how to identify couterfeit money by studying counterfeit money. You learn how to identify counterfeits by studying the truth very sincerely. If Jesus had to denounce every sin, he would have done nothing else. When God told Noah to build the ark out of gopher wood, he didn't have to tell him "don't use hickory, or oak, or cedar, or ash..." The truth alone excludes all that is not truth. We don't have to have every non-truth listed. In fact, that would be impossible. That's why Jesus never condemned it specifically. The truth already condemns it.

Because as I have said many times, its not being homosexual or having homosexual thoughts that are a sin, its acting on that. Homosexual acts are sinful. Its not about the temptation, but acting on the temptation. Leviticus 18-22 "You shall not lie with a man as with a woman; it is an abomination."
-
um...he kinda did. he specifically called it an abomination and he said that those who commit abominable acts shall go to hell. sorry. im just telling the truth. google it. research it.

Oh how I love to see the almighty Christian holier than thou folks TRY to justify THAT question .... NEVER did Jesus say that anyone who is homosexual was going to Hell .... Just because your fundamentalist christians have for YEARS twisted the meaning of the original Hebrew into something it doesn't even begin to mean ... in itself should be a SIN ! Try reading: http://gayxjw.org/hombible.html Also: Try googling up the "Secret Gospel of Mark" ..around verses 34-35 .. it tells that Jesus resurrected a young man .... it tells that later the young man came to Jesus clad ONLY in a linen cloth and that he spent the night with Jesus as jesus "Taught him the mystery of the Kingdom of God ..." the "INFERENCE" that there MAY have been a sexual laison here .... Hmmmmmm !! I'm not saying that there WAS ... BUT .... ????

The simplest way I can answer this question is that, according to scripture, the only going to hell trait is rejecting salvation through Jesus Christ. It's one thing to believe in Christ with the head, but one must believe in Him with their whole heart; believe me He knows the difference. Christ knows who is sincere and who is not. A wholehearted believer in Jesus Christ, Son of God, endeavors to follow Him and worship Him in Spirit and in truth. Such a person makes it known, despite opposition, that Jesus Christ is Lord and Saviour of their life. The scriptures identifies those things which are wrong in the sight of God; homosexuality happens to be one of those things. Without empowerment through Jesus Christ, it is impossible to develop a mindset which neither embraces, nor advocates, lesbianism or homosexuality. In fact, one cannot accept that any kind of sex outside of marriage (male-female) is wrong in the sight of God without the truths which are placed in our hearts through the Holy Spirit. For the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit are one and the same. No one can go to Heaven without having wholeheartedly accepted salvation through Christ and endeavored to glorify and honor God faithfully and truthfully in all their ways and to the very best of their flawed ability. Jesus Christ admonishes us not to judge each other; but to leave the judging up to Him. As well, His followers are admonished to tell others about His goodness and mercy; that all should have a chance to make a decision to either accept or reject Him before they leave this world. One can only connect with God through His Son Jesus Christ. When we pray, the Holy Spirit (of Jesus Christ) that was left here to relay messages to God the Father hears our prayers and processes them accordingly. When we accept Christ as our very personal Saviour, the Holy Spirit enters our hearts and begins the good works which God has in store for us here on this earth. We cannot understand scripture and accept the scriptures as truth without the counseling of Holy Spirit.
