The bottom line is this......did you violate a traffic law? if so, the police officer can correct all wrong information, on the citation, in court. as long as the officers name, date and time are correct, every thing else can be corrected. if you challenge the citation for this reason, both will be under oath to explain the events of the ticket. also, the officer, realizing his mistake, can also correct this before court time. the citation is a courtesy and notifies you, in writing, that you have violated some law and have a court date to satisfy the issued citation. hope this answers your question. end
