the top five in world football can be ascertained from 3 differing factors, supporters clubs members, replica shirt sales and matchday attendance figures.

according to 442 magazine and uefa.com the top five in each are as follows

It has to be Celtic or Rangers.

Whenever you go on holiday abroad you will find a celtic or rangers bar. I've never seen a liverpool, man u or barcelona bar. I've been to france, spain, portugal, australia and america and can always find a celtic pub.

You could say Man United, but the teams that has been challenging that has to be Chelsea and Barcelona. In the past few years after Chelsea's stunning rise to take the EPL from Man United they have taken advantage marketing wise and took the initiave and played games all over the world more than Man United and Liverpool. Same thing for Barcalona. So for now yes its United but thats for now...

It all depends on what your definition of a fan is. Man U only have this reputation because of there success. If you look at teams like Liverpool and Rangers, then you get a feel for a fan base. If all 3 teams were relegated this season (LOL) only Man U's fan base would go down in numbers. There called glory hunters. Liverpool and Rangers have established and registered supporters clubs all over the world and can take more fans to away games than most teams can get at home.

- Well yeah man utd has been winning consistently since 92. I don't think you can say their fans are glory hunters just cause their team wins..it's just too bad man utd hv acheived glory for a long time and you try to use it against them lol. Sounds like a scouser

Glasgow Rangers 200,000 went to Manchester for UEFA cup final with 30,000 inside Ibrox for live beam back. These ARE supporters (they paid money to follow their team true definition of supporter). Even Celtic took 80,000 to Seviila to follow their team. Man Utd & Liverpool They can only dream of these numbers. FACT the old firm are easily the biggest supported teams IN THE WORLD (don't believe me? look at the record club attendances). So why don't you's do some research before claiming nonsense.

In this moment is clearly the FC Barcelona, and I say that for two different reasons. First because is the tem who plays the most beautiful soccer and the second reason is because whe I trip to everywhere I see a lot of shirts of Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Puyol... Really I see many shirts of them and less shirts of the rest of teams, and the difference is really big.
