There is no real biological reason. People used to think that your food would not digest properly (and those prone to reflux will generally find it worse when lying down), and you would sleep badly as your body was busy digesting food. Anytime is a good time to eat fruit.

The bananas are a great thing to eat before you eat as they are a mild sedative. And they work pretty quick and are easy to digest.
