  • i think his friend is SOL right now. LOL if my husband was gripped with temporary insanity, that would explain the idea of him promising someone that i would provide a "home cooked meal". hell, my husband never gets a home cooked meal from me, what makes him think i can magically make one appear for a guest? My father brought home a couple for lunch from his church congregation. My mother was in bed sick and the kitchen was a disaster. So, when my father came home with them, he had to clean up the kitchen table and then make them scrambled eggs for lunch. Geez, was my mom mad when she told me about this.
  • At short notice he'd probably get lasagne with salad and garlic bread at my house, although I wouldn't be cooking it, I would have been the one making the phone call.
  • Quick check the freezer. Choices: Venison fillets; buffalo london broil or trout. Need to marinate the buffalo for two days so that's out. Looks like surf and turf (venison and fish). Check the cupboard. Jasmine or cajun style rice. (I'll go cajun). No fresh veggies. I'm in luck. A frozen vegetable medely is in the freezer. Wine. No problem. Got about 30 bottles. Go with the Cabernet or the Shiraz. Dessert. Have some Haggen Das white chocolate, rasberry, macadamia truffle ice cream in the freezer. I'm good to go. Shit. It's Sunday and my girlfriend is coming over later. I'll surprise her with a good meal. Thanks for the idea!
  • He shouldn't make promises for someone else when he don't know the cercimstances at home. If he gives you a very short notice then he would get soup & sandwhiches or what ever I have in the fridge & a good butt chewing for not giving me a days notice to prepart the house & a good meal for company. I get so mad when my hubby makes plans & has no intentions of carrying them out & wants me to cook & make him look good. But they would get what I got.
  • Raisin Bran
  • Cheese on toast and be done with it.
  • No problem whatsoever = There are at least a hundred way to prepare eggs. Even more for potatoes. There is always several kinds of onions on hand. Oh yeah, there is my traditional fresh herb garden -- now in containers as we live in a condo. Our literal global spice and herb cabinet, a lazy susan with two shelves, holds every herb imaginable from as far away as Morocco, South America, France, Italy and many, many others, including home-made oils holding herbal essences from around the world. There is sour cream in the frige should we desire to go Eastern European and Pommagranite Molasses should we choose to go Persian. The rest is just up to years of experience, both of us having 'chefing' as a serious hobby ... and complete and utter use of imagination! Bon Appetite ... friend! Oh, I almost forgot: we have a built in wine cellar too! Mmmmm, yummy! Wanna come over too?
  • Hmm... Let's see... Appetizer: Warm tomato soup with shredded cheddar on top and thick slices of homemade garlic bread. Main: Salisbury Hamburger Helper with sliced carrots, sweet corn, green beans, and Rice-A-Roni on the side, along with Pilsbury Crescent Rolls with butter. Dessert: Chocolate Revel Ice Cream with Caramel Sauce, whipped cream, marushino cherries, ground pecans, and rainbow sprinkles. Beverage: 2 1/2 quarts of fruit juice cocktail mixed with 1 1/2 quarts of Sprite. Yup, I'm good to go! ^_^
  • I have homemade pasta sauce made from homegrown tomatoes in my freezer. If I boil some water and make spaghetti, and pop the sauce in the microwave, I've got a homemade meal in 15 minutes.
  • Id he thinks there's going to be a home-cooked meal, I hope his friend is prepared to wait. I can set out the chicken to thaw, but that's about all I'm qualified to do. Love does most of the cooking. Or we're having grilled cheese and spaghetti.
  • Ground beef, onions, and potatoes.
