A pro would be it being a way to express yourself. A con, is the risk of infection. But unless you have an allergy to metal, there's really no reason you can't keep them clean and avoid infection. I personally love my pierced ears :)

Pro..wearing some beautiful earrings. Con Getting your earlobes infected or ripped if the earring gets caught in something or someone gets angry and wants to hurt you! :(

I see a lot of pros and really no cons at all. That's true for guys as well as for girls. I'm a straight, conservative, 56 year-old guy who has pierced ears and am really delighted I had it done. I had my left ear pierced in '91 at age 39. I was afraid maybe I was too old, that some of my friends would disapprove, etc. Also had the hangups a lot of guys my age did about whether it was manly or not. I remember feeling my face blush beet red as I was telling the girl at Piercing Pagoda I wanted to get my ear pierced. When I saw my newly pierced ear in the mirror I thought it looked really cool, and was totally glad I had the balls to take the plunge. A few months ago my 17 year-old nephew convinced me to get my right ear done along with a second hole in the left. I usually wear small silver or gold hoops along with a small stud in the second hole in the left ear. I love it and delighted I did it. At least here in NY there really isn't much hassle about it any more and it's fairly mainstream even for a lot of middle-aged guys like myself. If you get it done and later decide it's not for you, just stop wearing earrings. The holes will eventually close leaving only a tiny mark that's barely visible. So any guy or girl who wants to get his/her ears pierced should just go ahead and do it.
