The sub draws the line in S&M and BDSM at his or her comfort level. It is different for each couple. A decent Dom must adhere to the limits and the safe word. I am into mild BDSM (as a Dom) and that is my comfort level. Of course, my sub sets the ground rules.

I'm a serious masochist and have a very high pain tolerance. Spanking, flogging, caning, hot wax, hairpulling, biting scratching, clamps, etc...I'm all for it. lol! I, personally, draw the line at blood. I don't mind knife play, but I don't want to actually be *cut*. I also don't like things like kicking and punching, but slapping is okay! :)
