  • Hi! Ford used to put a sticker in the trunk with the key code on it. That doesn't seem to be the case with my '03 Taurus. If you have your owner's manual package, there may be a card with the code on it. If that approach fails, the stamp on your ignition key may lead to the code. If you have a working key fob, you can program a second one with just that. The instructions are actually quite simple and will be provided by just about any eBay seller you choose to buy a second fob from. If all of this fails, I think you're relegated to taking your new eBay fob to a dealer to have it programmed. I don't know what the going rate is, but Courtesy Ford here in Poulsbo, Washington charges $65.00. I believe that's a little inflated, considering the time and labor involved, but they DO kind of have you by the jewels. I hope that helps. Sincerely, Steve
  • Are you speaking of the touch pad on the driver's door? I'm not sure on an '03, but earlier Tauri have the code printed on what I think is the remote's receiver found to the right of the steering column under the dash. It's silver, and a bit larger than a cigarette pack. You have to almost stand on your head to be able to see it, but it's there. It's five digits. Take a flashlight along.
  • This is probably old news by now, but the guy saying it's under the dash partly right. The sticker should be fairly large, as well as the numbers. The module it's located on is actually about 6x6 or 8x8. The code will be 5 digits, in black, each digit about 3/4 inch in size. If you have a remote, you can hit a button on it and hear the "clicking" of the module under the dash. If no fob, hit your unlock button on the door. Of course, you're going to hear the locks cycling, but what your listening for is a distinct "click". Once you hear it, you can't miss it. This is applicable to any Ford/ Mercurty/ Lincoln with keyless entry.
