i-pods are a proprietary product, and becuse of that the created a software that they want you to be FORCED to purchase. Mac uses mp4, and not mp3, that's why people have trouble with these two formats. More and more mp3 players are enabling users to download the mp4 format. You have to read the fine print. it can be done, but you have to get the players, and the software to match up. Also through the years, there are free converters on the web that can convert wma files into mp3 files, I would imagine there is a converter out there that will allow a user to convert mp4 into mp3 format.
