No, a fetus is an unborn child. A not yet fully developed human being. edit================================== A parasite attaches itself to a host. And in most cases is unwelcome. A fertilized egg growing within a mother didn't attach itself. Here's a definition: Biology An organism that grows, feeds, and is sheltered on or in a "different organism" while contributing nothing to the survival of its host. A "different organism" would disqualify a fetus in this case human or otherwise.

A parasite is something that harms it host. A fetus inside a mother's womb doesn't harm the mother. Therefore, a fetus is not a parasite.

Here's the definition of parasite: "An animal or plant that lives in or on a host (another animal or plant); it obtains nourishment from the host without benefiting or killing the host." A fetus seems to meet this definition.

No, especially if you are part of the reason for it being in you. It didn't climb in you, you participated in the activity to create a human being. that is not the definition of a parasite.

Technically, yes. parasite An animal or plant that gets nutrients by living on or in an organism of another species. A complete parasite gets all of its nutrients from the host organism, but a semi-parasite gets only some of its nutrients from the host. People seem to be caught up in the negative connotation given to the word "parasite" in the vernacular, and giving an emotional response to this question.

Yes, by biological definitions.

But does it make any difference at all that a woman's body is designed to host another (human) organism in this way? Which to me does not seem the case with a foreign (non human) organism or parasite.
-
Absolutely not!!!! Since when are the parasite and the host the same exact species and since when does the host's body (or what have you) purposely support and meet the need of the parasite. This is just some really sick twisted way to justify killing a living human being. There is no way around it. We need to stick to the facts. The facts are : Life does (as sciece proves) begins at conception. It is also a complete human being which is clearly defined by their own complete set of DNA! So it is a fact that from the moment of conception we are a living human being. The worth of the human being is complete opinion and when dealing with someones life it should never be grounds for legalizing the killing of a human being! Doesn't it say some where that we were all created equal? To stear away from this is very dangerous and maybe someday someone will think for what ever reason our lives are disposable too! Just remember that slavery made complete sence to many people in this country at one time and was completely legal! We are repeating history!
