Drowning* My bad.

I can usually help people who are afraid of swimming due to drowning, as soon as they see that I am VERY confortable in water and a good swimmer they'll trust me to rub some of it off to them and they can soon learn that so long as they don't move and have air in their lungs they'll FLOAT, after that I show them how to get forward motion in the same way that dogs do and in about 10 minutes they can "swim"(meaning stay up and have forward motion). After this, fear usually goes away. But as far as sharks are concerned, I hate them myself and will never swim in a sea that can support them. Hope I helped you. Get friendly with a *good* swimming instructor.

ive been scared too since i was about 12. its not a strong phobia or anything, but i still dont get in the ocean. this past weekend i finally worked myself up to get in, only knee deep. we came back the second day, ready to get in, when we saw maybe 5 or 6 sharks swim by. they werent dolphins either. they were maybe a car length away from the shore. the ocean is a beautiful place but we forget WE are in THIER habitat. i now refuse to ever get in the water again. so your not alone.

I will not swim where fish or anything else alive is. I will go in a pool during the day because I can see what's in the water. (But won't go swimming in a pool at night!) Just the thought of walking or swimming in a body of water with fish or seaweed freaks me out.
