  • Panic attacks are real and medically treatable. See a doctor. You probably need medication. You don't have to live like this.
  • I could go on a rant but I'm a bit tired and my thoughts unorganized. The biggest way for me to get a panic attack is if someone pukes. Best thing to get rid of it is lay down and think about my boyfriend or something relaxing as such. Even sleep helps. Hope this helps if you are having problems.
  • I believe that they are brought on by dental pain. I usually tend to slap my self hard across the face or pull over to the side of the road if I'm driving. Sometimes if I'm on the road I need to go to the corner store to buy a beer no matter what time it is. When I drink it is always at dark, but if I gotta do what I gotta do, then I'm gonna do it. The sheer lack of control and unexplained pain are motive enough to do so. Too much caffeine can trigger them too but as I say I believe they are brought on by dental pain.
  • I used to, when I was having a BUNCH of problems at work and financially. I had to start thinking differently about the things that were freaking me out. It seemed to help.
  • My friend does. She'll start to hyperventhilate. Her heart will start to hurt. We thought she was having a heart attack. Found out after ekg's and test she head a heart murmur. Trigger? Unexpected Emotions. If she got sad, angry, overwhelmed. Breathe.
  • No I have never had a panic attack. I get incredibly nervous but am lucky enough not to have suffered attacks.
  • I try to tnink about anything different and do something, what needs much attention. It helps much, and very soon I forget about this panic attack
  • yes, and Xanax
  • no i sure havent, but it must suck when you have one.
  • I used to, they just simply went away.
  • yes and they put me on paxil, but it was not for me, mine were right after my surgery , its been almost 7 years now so dont have them any more and for that I am very thankful!!!
  • Yes. I hide in the bathroom. That will usually do it.
  • It's a lot to do with how YOU deal with them. Good steady breathing, have a little talk with yourself, try to do something (make a cuppa, have a chat with someone) and if all else fails then get a brown paper bag, seal around your mouth and take deep breaths in and out into it. My girlfriend has them and this works. It is purely to do with how you react to them. I'm not saying it's all in your head because millions have them, but you can beat it. Good luck, it will get better.
  • I just take a deep breath and I meditate my mind.
  • Great question! Most panic attacks are caused by your neurons firing too rapidly which will often cause your respiration to increase. Once you reach the point of hyperventilation, you will begin to have a build-up of CO2 in your bloodstream; this is because your body has priorities, and when it has limited time for gaseous exchange in the lungs it wants to bring in O2 more than get rid of the CO2. This causes liquid calcium to be introduced to your neurons, causing them to fire faster. At that point it becomes a cycle until you pass out, allowing for respiration to return to normal and for your neurochemistry to do the same. Most panic attacks can be stopped by simply holding your breath - that allows for the CO2 to be filtered out of the blood and get you back to the point where you can at least control your thoughts.
  • They tend to manifest itself when I get stressed. I just have to wait until it passes. Some nice fresh cool air may help make things better and deep breathing exercises.

  • Yes. I get them sometimes after I smoke pot.. a few days later. They last for about a week and gradually disappear. I had a bad trip once, and I think I just go back to that sometimes when I smoke. It's funny how it occurs AFTER I smoke and never during; I've never had a full-on attack while high, but I do remember very negative emotions during that bad trip. I never had any mental problems or anything (other than PMS hehe) before this has been happening. i KNOW I can stop it once and for all by not smoking or by giving it a break. I'm going to take a 4-5 month break from weed and see how things go. As for you, I don't think I'd take medications (just my opinion). If pot didn't start them, why not experiment to see if it would END them? It makes sense. I've heard that for some people it can actually reduce panic attacks. Just be careful..

  • Yes, I have been getting panic attacks for 9 months now. Don't know what causes it, I can be watching t.v and get one or be sleeping and wake up and I can't breathe. I am on medication but it doesn't seem to be working. I have cut down on caffeine(coke, coffee or chocolate)
  • Sometimes and anything can trigger them.
  • I've had one that I know of. Rather not say the cause.
  • I used to suffer from panic attacks, but I don't any more..I didn't want to get addicted to some medication, so I opted for natural panic attack treatment. There are a lot of techniques that can help you fight panic attack, you need to find the one that works for you best. For me it was a combination of physical exercise, meditation and some panic attack relief techniques (like breathing techniques) I learned to help me when I would feel another panic attack is coming.
  • Yes. I have panic attacks. If I'm doing something i.e. mowing the lawn, and start to feel woozy, I just work through it. Currently I'm taking medication which helps. Also have been seeing a counsellor. Actually meeting up with him today. He's taking me to the supermarket today, and see how I'm going...
