    At worst the drive could be dead. If it's a Thompson drive there is a mirror on the bottom side of the laser, when that gets dirty it commonly causes problems and can't be cleaned with a lens cleaner. Take apart the drive and carefully clean it. Search the web for Tutorials if you need it.
