  • They are all unprovable estimates based on unprovable estimates based on an unprovable theory someone came up with in their bathtub/library/laboratory/post-coital state/etc... We'll never know for sure whether the earth is 20 million years, 20 billion years, 20 thousand years, or whether it's all a figment of the imagination of a 13 year old child somewhere. Believe in whatever makes you sleep better at night.
  • The article you cited (http://fayfreethinkers.com/tracts/ageoftheearth.shtml ) actually claims that the earth is billions of years old, in accordance with the scientifically accepted figure of around 4.5 billion -- not sure where you got 20 million. Yes, I think those facts are accurate -- based as they are on well over a century of careful observations of physical evidence and application of logic -- i.e., the scientific method. What's especially important is that it cites so many different and diverse lines of evidence, across multiple scientific disciplines. The creationist dogma of "6000 years" would make the earth almost a million times younger (not exactly a subtle disagreement!) based on zero physical evidence -- just the "inerrancy of the Bible," accepted on faith rather than deduced from physical evidence.
