Thinking about the formats we've had music on: are CDs better than MP3s? Is vinyl better than CD? Are 78s better than vinyl? Are old wax disks better than 78s?

CD is definitely better than MP3 because compression loses some of the original information leading to a flatter sound. Also, are valves better than transistors? My view is that the best sound quality comes from vinyl played through a valve system. It seems warmer, somehow.
