Most of the time I use sugar as I'm baking something. Powdered sugar is usually for cold preparation or afterwards. You can make your own powdered from regular sugar by whirring it in your food processor or coffee mill. And then it doesn't have the added cornstarch the manufacturers put in it:-)

Regular sugar and yes milk is fine instead of creme. It will be two lumps if served as lumps.
