Do you own a handmade quilt? Is there a story behind how you came to acquire it?

As a wedding gift from some dear friends of ours, we received a quilt embroidered with the titles and first bar of quite possibly every song in the church hymnal. It is a beautiful quilt. I cried when I received it. It is especially special to my husband, who is a musician.

I don't have a handmade quilt, but I have two handmade afghans..one from my Grandmother..she knitted one for each of her grandchildren..the other from my ex-husband's mom, which she made for my son..he isn't an afghan kind of guy, so he gave it to me! :)

I have three handmade quilts and I came to have them because I made them. I took a quilt-in-a-day class about twelve years ago and got hooked on quilting for a few years. I have made several that I gave away, but I kept my first log cabin quilt, a wallhanging quilt that consists of 29 dogs and one cat, and another crazy pieced quilt. I also have two crocheted afghans that my mom made for me.
