  • Either some software you installed or some software someone else installed (ie: virus) is the most likely culprit. The extreme solution is to reformat the drive and reinstall Windows from scratch. Also remember that laptops run slower when running off batteries to save battery time, and speed up when running on AC power, so make sure you're running on AC power.
  • Try defrag-ing it and clearing all temporary internet files and also any unneeded/un-used programs. But, I agree with the pumpkin king that the best thing to do would be to format and re-install Windows.
  • Also scan it for spyware
  • I found out it was the Symantec anti-virus software that was using a lot of the processes. i got a different anti-virus and now it works good
