How can and electric motor show how much electricity is flowing in a circuit? Is this a good way of measuring electricity?

The fatesr it'll rotate the more electricity is flowing. However this isn't a very good way to 'measure' it because without a speedometer of sorts you cannot tell accurately when it is rotating fatser.
