Sunglasses are for the eyes protection against the rays of the sun. if the sun is shining, i wear sunglasses. If there is snow glare, i wear sunglasses. Night time is not the right time for sunglasses. Sunglasses were invented for eye protection, NOT a fashion statement.

It used to be up until a year or so ago, that I wouldn't head out of the house without a pair of sunglasses, no matter the weather (I would in fact run late trying to find the missing pair). I always felt more comfortable seeing things more dimly, I even convinced myself that my eyesight was going to last longer from the protection. On a practical note, I was much less likely to get specks in my contacts.

yes, ever since i started wearing contact lenses my eyes have become very sensitive to light and glare.

No, and I feel it's rude to unless you have a legit reason. Other people should be able to see your eyes when you are out in public.

You can wear sunglasses all year round if you have the right tints. Those which come with interchangeable lenses are pretty useful, like the ones at www.pilot-sunglasses.co.uk . The lighter, yellow tinted lens is actually light enhancing, and so you can wear them for driving e.g. when it's pretty dark and they will literally make everything brighter!
