  • The first thing for you to do is call your local bar association they have lawyer referal programs. But you should also know that currently it is illegal for a lawyer to do a pro bono (free) bankruptcy case unless he is doing his own bankruptcy. So you will not get a free lawyer but perhaps a reduced price. These rules are intended to limit the amount or availability to bankruptcy relief.
  • I don't think they can get a free lawyer. Legal aid in your area can provide low cost services and payment plans. Search for the Legal Aid Society in their area.
