Two and a half days should do it.

for a bird 16-20 lbs it should take about 3-4 days. Allow 24 hours per 5lbs. In cold water it is only 30 minutes per lb and change the water every half hour. SO your bird would only take about 8-10 hours :-)

Don't defrost out in the open( meaning don't let it sit on the counter). Just inviting all kinds of nice bacteria. Throw it in the fridge and let it stay there for about three and a half days. Rule of thumb is 1 day(24 hrs) for every five ponds.
