No. If you have used the same brand of ammo and have not altered the rifle in any way, the report (noise made when fired) of the weapon should be within a narrow band of decibels. Some possibilities: - You may have become more sensitive to the sound if you haven't shot it for a while and then came back to it. - Your hearing protection (you ARE using it, right?!) may be losing effectiveness or you are not using it properly. - You are shooting in a more enclosed space (different rifle range booth, for example) or a place where the terrain/building layout reflects more noise back to you. A popular modification to many rifles is a muzzle brake, designed to reduce muzzle climb when shooting. A brake WILL make the report sound louder to the shooter as the brake deflects gases and noise that would normally go away from the shooter to a plane that is parallel to the shooter, thus exposing him to twin expanding wavefronts of sound.
