The water supply here is desalinated sea water, so it's quite soft.

Soft water. Creek water here is tea colored from the tannins in the cedar trees. Some people travel miles to wash their hair in it, although it is not a good practice because of the pollution.

I live in a hard water area. I once lived in a house that had a water softner system and just loved it - less soap is used.

I have very hard water. My water is so nasty. My water smells like eggs (sulpher) and it leaves my skin feeling tight and dry. I rent or I would install a water softner.

very hard. Once i moved to Holland for work for a while and every time i cooked pasta i overcooked it just because of the difference in the hardness of the water:-)
