It's a form of peer pressure. It's a very powerful thing. Everyone is influenced in some way by their environment. It's how we gain our self concept. Using slang, dressing a certain way, hair, jewelry, etc. are all things influenced by our culture. People are so bombarded with celebrity glamorization that it affects their own behavior...some more than others'.

They have an identity propblem. When you don't know who you are you try to identify yourself with somethng that you can relate to. For many kids, its celebs. In a way this is true with each of us. Look at your avatar. You chose this to identify something about yourself.

Sadly, there are some people who don't grow out of it. I've seen people in their late 20s/early 30s trying to dress like celebrities and copy their dance moves and stuff. They seem to think it makes them feel special- that they've found somebody they admire and so try to apply it to their own life in hope of impressing other people. The truth is, they don't look impressive, they just look like they are trying too hard. It's better to just lay back and be yourself so that people recognise your own strengths and talents.
