  • Distraction is all they are. They mask other activities that are not publicized.
  • I know what you mean. It is on every station for hour upon hour upon hour on end. It wouldn't be so bad if it were something new but it is the same old stuff on top of it all. Repetitive running of video, sound bites etc. Show it once or twice and then get back to regular programs unless there is something else of importance to add.
  • I think the whole genre of news now has gotten transformed into a ratings game and entetaining people gets ratings I suppose. ONce the cable channels got involved in the news game, the competition has gotten fierce. Back in the day, straight news reporting was easy because all three networks carreid their news brodcast at the same time and nothing else was on Tv for that hour or so. NOw they are all trying to grab an audience. The newspapers are dying out faster than the brontosaurus, and they have turned to editorial or almost tabloid material. Look at the NY times or SF chronicle, they are a joke now. Radio seems the best medium for gaining true, accurate, and quick news.
  • what ever one has said here, well 90% has hit the nail on the head. and its true, watching CBS over the years and World News America, i'm waiting for Charles Gibson to once again introduce the news as follows, "Mass starvation, Disease runs rife, War, heres Governor California!" (theme tune) Dur, Dur-Dur-Dur, Dur, Dur-Dur-Dur, wha/wha la-de-da...."I told you i'd ve Back"
  • duh. Thats why we should not take mainstream media seriously.Sad but true.
