I leave it in and pretend it is going to protect the rest of the bread.
-
Leave it there to serve as an air-buffer between the end of the bag and the good peices. When the good peices are gone, I throw it out to the birds in my back yard (along with the back end of the loaf).
-
I eat it plain. :P I really like bread.
-
I usually eat in and give the others the main slices.
-
I leave it till the end as some others have said , it's like it helps protect and keeps the other slices of bread softer + up and cute question , I never thought about that before now
-
I wait until I have both end slices then make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. YUM!
-
i treat it like any other slice. I like the ends better and wish the entire loaf was like that.
-
I usually leave it in for most of the loaf, and when I'm down to the end of the loaf, I take the matching ends, toast them, and eat them with butter and jelly. I love crust-toasts.
-
I never waste food, I suppose it is from my parents growing up in the depression and they taught us to not be wasteful. I eat the ends as a regular piece of bread.
-
I was thinking about asking a question about this. Looks like you beat me to it. I was wondering if they sold bread without the end pieces. I normally use them for toast instead of wasting them.
-
Make a quick small sandwich out of them, our dip them in soup or chili
-
You,erm, I leave it as a cover for the rest of the slices in the loaf. We call it the "heal" of the loaf.
-
We call that piece the heel and i think its the best slice when i get a new loaf i have to eat it.
-
Since I like it the best, I eat it :)
-
Eat it.
-
Call it a bastardization of God and burn it at the stake.
-
I always want to throw it away...but for some reason I never do until the whole loaf is gone...
-
save it and freeze it to use for stuffing
-
I push the little "red-headed stepchild" aside until he meets up with his twin. Then, together, they take a joyful little ride to the dump to meet up with Mr. and Mrs. Seagull.
-
Save it to make Bread Pudding.
-
I give the birds a snack.
-
Because I buy really good bread the ends are my favorite part. I love them toasted with butter.
-
eat it! its the best part
-
I reach behind it to get the next slice, then replace it in front to keep the rest of the bread fresh. When only the two end pieces are left I make cheese toast with them. They make really good cheese toast. :-)
-
I save all the end pieces and make my own croutons and bread crumbs.
-
I EAT it with the one on the other end!
-
Bread is cheap... I throw little awawy but the heel on a loaf of bread is just one of those things and as far as the hungry children in africa... It would take about $500 to send those two heels.
-
I don't eat the end crusts. The texture is different from the rest of the loaf and I don't really enjoy it.
-
i reach behind then leave it in place untill i have 2 ends together and feed the birds
-
I hang on to the end pieces for as long as I can to supposedly keep the unshielded slices fresher. . I actually prefer the crust so sometimes I yield to temptation and scarf them down before I finish the bald slices. . My wife also prefers the crust. When she eats a roll she removes the interior part, puts it aside, and just eats the hollowed-out shell. :D
-
That's my favorite piece! If you get two pieces, make a grilled cheese sandwich and grill the crust side, it's awesome!
-
i eat it first its the best bit
-
its the best bit, i spread it with loadsa butter hmmmm
-
Use them for hotdogs.
-
I like to eat it, heavily buttered with something a little bit like this: <o)))))><
-
Feed it to the cat.
-
Eat it.
-
Well I leave the first end piece until all the middle slices are gone... then I eat the end slices!!! I think that is the best part of the bread!!! Yummy
-
First off, we refer to it as the "heel." ------ ------ I usually eat it as toast.
-
I keep it at the end until I've eaten all the middle pieces, then have the two ends in a sandwich.
-
The ends make good toast.
-
I leave the heels in place to help keep the loaf fresh, when the loaf is done I feed the heel to the chickens. with my homemade bread I eat the heels because it is that good.
-
Eat it. Usually tasted as it doesn't cover a good sandwich!
