We traveled through Iowa and received a speeding ticket. The officer wrote last year for the court date. The back of the ticket says must be responded to before the date on the front. What should we do?

Sometimes this happens when the year changes from one to the next. it still does not effect your summons and your need to answer it. you know when it occured and the year error can easily be corrected in court. issuing a citation is a courtesy in lieu of a physical arrest. call the traffic violations bureau in whatever town in iowa. they may let you go to defensive driving class in your home town and your citation will be dismissed. by the way, ever written the wrong date on a new year check?
