My Aunty did bring a plate for her wedding. If you don't have alot of money people understand and are more than happy to bring food and beer. Just fill the bath up with ice for the beer and wine, light the barbecue, provide a table for salads and desserts. Supply what you can afford and ask guests to bring the rest. Easy.

A potluck type meal isn't such a bad idea. You provide the location and the music, and as much food and drink as you can afford, and ask your guests to bring the rest. Your friends and family are coming to your wedding to share the special occasion with you - not to be pampered. They would most likely be more than happy to bring a dish, or some drinks. I know I would.

Hope it's not to late to weigh in on this. Public parks can be a very affordable alternative for outdoor weddings. A local tree nursery wanted $2000 to book our wedding there. It was beautiful and the cheaper that most other places, but the city park had an attractive, huge gazebo by a pond and only charged us $300 to reserve it for the two days of both rehearsal and wedding.

Hi, Thanks for the info. We've found a place that is reasonable - it's on a lake, rustic etc. And we're painting murals to brighten up the inside (log cabin). It should be beautiful. We've got a lot of help with food, decor etc. And since it's after Christmas i should be shopping for discounted white lights! Thanks again - the park sounds beautiful!
