Anyone have any good advice on how to get cat urine stain and stench out of couch upholstery?

It really depends on the fabric. There are enzyme releasing cleaners that work on fabrics that are non absorbent. If it is a cloth with open cell foam under it, the only thing that will ever get that vile smell out for good, is a quart of gasoline and a match, and then give the cat away. Even if you can get it clean smelling, it will "renergize" if it ever gets wet (to include sweaty legs, or soda pop) Just make sure you get the couch far away from the house before you use the gas technique.
