  • water does not expire it evaperates.
  • The Brita company used to say you could leave the pitcher out. Now they are saying that it should be refrigerated. This is because germs can breed in the filter, so it is best to keep it in the fridge. Failing that, I would try to use the entire pitcher each day and refill it with fresh water each day. I have used my Brita pitcher for over 10 years. I started out keeping it on the counter, then when the instructions changed, I kept it in the fridge for awhile. But I went back to keeping it on the counter because I use it so much. I have never had a problem with this. I would say, just be sure you drink plenty of water and use it for any cooking you may do so that it doesn't sit too long and go stale. Here is an article I wrote about the use of the Brita Pitcher vs bottled water: http://hubpages.com/hub/Evian-Spelled-Backward-is-Nave By the way, I know that Evian Spelled Backward is Naive, but the HubPages naming gadget didn't pick up the "i" :) I hope this helps! :) Suzanne
