I just love how real the characters are made to seem,even though they're wizards. She makes me feel like I am part of the book and I could really do the things, too yet. (BTW- I'm a 37 yr old woman.)

It's well-written, exciting, and funny. I love British humor, which is probably why I enjoyed it so much. Once you begin reading, I have trouble imagining not getting hooked. One thing I particularly enjoyed about reading the books was Rowling's amazing attention to detail. Tiny things that are mentioned seemingly off the cuff in one book may turn out to be very important, or at least terribly relevant, two or three books later.

I like them because its an insight into a magical world, that has 'normal' people in it. Its like, the world we know, only magical.

Rowling never said she was writing a childrens book. Harry Potter enables everyone to slip away from reality and into 'reality'. It lets us see our own world but without the automatic connections. It's like the Lord of the Rings of our day.
