I heard that you sound different then you really think. I don't know I guess if you practice your *new* voice alot and try and use it alot it will just come a habit.

i hate my voice too and im embarrassed of it

Everyone I know hates their voice on tape. I would not worry about such a thing, though. No one else ever notices. To them, you just sound like you.

The reason your voice sounds different on tape is because when you speak, it resounds slightly within your skull. That's why your recorded voice likely sounds a bit "hollow" and perhaps nasal compared to how you hear it normally. This applies to everyone, not just you. I suspect you'd seem a bit foolish if you tried to change it actively. About as foolish as you *think* you sound now (to everyone else, it's just the way it is).

I had to record the answering machine/ directory for my department. I cannot stand to listen to it!! It sounds really bad I remember I had this huge tongue ring on when I recorded it , my director thinks its adorable.

I'm a real social chameleon my voice and accent can change dramatically depending on whom I am talking to, from my farming friends with real broad accents to Business collegues with hardly any accents at all. even if i am away from home for more than a month I will usually begin to sound like a local, i don't notice it much when i'm doing it but my partner comments about it a lot of the time
