    Eukaryotes have nuclei to contain their DNA. Prokaryotes (such as bacteria) are more primitive and have no nuclei. Their DNA just floats around the cytoplasm.

    DNA is found is the cell nucleus and mitochondria. Only one type of cell does not have these: Red blood cells. Erythrocytes (red hollow cell) are cells that are nothing but cell membranes and sponges for oxygen (haemoglobin), no organelles and thus no DNA.
