  • It is possible, but the Social Security department will deny your first application and first appeal. They might deny your second appeal. You can't get a lawyer until you have been denied at least the first time, and if you are qualified to do a job that bi-polar doesn't interfere with you may as well forget it. Yes, the process does take a year or so.
  • Yes, I believe it is very possible the a person diagnosed with Bi-Polar (aka manic depression) can get S.S.D.I. I would speak with the Social Security Administration Department about the length of the waiting period. I don't believe one needs an attorney, ask the Social Security Administration Department about that as well. I believe it is S.S.D.I. (Social Security Disability Income). I believe that there is a waiting period, but the length my vary. The answers are with them.
  • It is possible to get it but you will have to be examined by one of their doctors to determine if it limits your ability to work because of it. As far as needing an attorney at no point in the process will you need an attorney. If you should be denied benefits and don't agree with their decision you can aoppeal on yorur own. If you feel you would be better off with an attorney idf it becomes necessary to appeal a denial then there are plenty that work on a no fee basis until a decision is made. If your appeal is successful their fee usually comes out of all the back ssi money they would owe you. If your appeal is denied most attorneys won't charge you a cent.
