No. I'm American and am very aware of how corrupt the media process can be. First of all, most media comes down from the big conglomerates (Newscorp, NBC/Universal, WB, ABC/Disney, Viacom, etc). So even if you think a certain media is distinct, odd are it is own by one of the big guys. Media is constantly being filtered. Television is a good example of how media is not free. We watch a TV show, thinking we're getting to watch a program for free. In actuality, the network is selling us - the viewers - to the advertisers. Advertisers are paying the network for our attention. With that, advertisers will only pay the big bucks if they are going to have a commercial that will run in front of a large audience. Therefore, television programs strive to attract as many viewers as possible. You're not gonna get a lot of viewers if you're preaching ideals that go against the majority. Basically, media is force-fed to us. Ah, I could go on and on, but you get my point.
