  • Its not because your lab is gay... He is trying to prove that he is the dominant Alpha male in the pack. Its normal canine behavior, kinda like when you get two guys together and they do all kinds of silly one up manship things infront of a pretty girl.
  • I agree with Atreadia...generally it is a simple game of dominance, and I think most behaviorist would agree with this as well. I have seen dogs mount, with an attitude not so much of dominance, but in what did appear to be a more sexual nature...a game of slap and tickle that isn't going anywhere fast for the most part...both dogs or dog and bitch being unable to reproduce due to neutering, spaying or being the same sex...This is generally a more playful game...a free for all...if you will with no overt attempt to "SHOW UP" either animal...just good clean fun! You shared in another post that the pup is a new dog, so it makes sense that the lab is attempting to be both friendly and establish a rightful pecking order. I'll assume the new kid is younger. Why don't you get your Lab neutered as well and prevent any possible worry or change he'll ever get cancer of the testis? If you aren't planning to show him and earn his titles...there's no logical reason to leave him intact and every good health reason to have it done!
