We really don't know for sure who down rates any question or answer , unless they leave a comment and a reason --- And it could be a troll
-
I think it says more about them. A secure man would NOT care whose gay & whose not, a woman too for that matter. Just live & let live. Now I'll get negative points but oh well, that's how I feel
-
so I just got a -5 on this question. What do you think that says about the person who did it?
-
Just their juvenile way of showing their hatred...while hiding behind their computers like the close-minded cowards they are. I bet the majority of them would never show such behavior in public. Of course, we've seen this in extreme in Y/A.

I have always believed that homophobic men are insecure in regard to their own masculinity. Why else would they make fun of gays? We often joke about that which we fear.
-
I have been accused on this site of being homophobic when one phrase of an answer was taken out of context or given more attention than the rest of my answer. Following on from this I had several consecutive days when, not only that answer, but numerous other completely unconnected answers, received serial down-rates. It never occurred to me to down-rate anything about the question or any of its other answers, so the words pot and kettle spring to mind.

It is ignorance and fear from those people.
-
well we really will never know their reasons because they are to gutless to leave comments to back up there D/R's so this leads me to assume they are the type to talk and spread rumours behind peoples backs and yet smile to there faces

Maybe they downgrade the questions because they reject the premise. For example if I downgraded this current question it wouldn't be because I fear homosexuals, it would be because I think that the premise of your question "homophobic people downgrade glbt questions," is a faulty premise. Downgrading questions is not necessarily a personal attack on the questioner. Sometimes I downgrade questions because information in the question is factual inaccurate, other times I downgrade questions because the question is used as an attack on others. If I asked the question, "Do you wonder why glbt's are always so defensive about everything? Does it make them feel better about themselves to act like bullies attack those who don't share their beliefs? Do you think they are really defending what they believe in their heart, or could they be just angry because something is not right in their life?" It wouldn't appear to you as a question at all, it would appear as an attack. Likewise this question and others like it are meant to attack those who do not hold the same beliefs as the questioner. So I would have to go on a case by case basis to attempt to understand why people would downgrade certain questions.

If the down rates are intentional, I would say that it says more about them than the people who made the questions.
