Your friend probably has a modded xbox. your xbox isn't faulty, it is just MS keeping you from getting free games. if you want to play burnt disks get a mod chip(it will void your warinty and MS charges an even more outragous price for repars). sence when did MS make cd burners for the xbox??

Some of the xbox's were made with different DVD/CD drives. Like lets say you have a thompson drive in your xbox (which are known not to read many types of media) and your friend has a samsung. His xbox may be able to read a disk that yours can't because his DVD/CD drive supportes that type of media. By types of media I mean the maker of the CD. On the other hand if your xbox's both have a thompson drive in them he may have just been luckier than you. There is nothing wrong with your xbox its mainly just luck of the draw. The only way that you would be able to read the burned cd is if you mod your xbox but that always isn't the best idea. You can check to see what DVD drive you have here http://llamma.com/xbox/Repairs/Images/DVDComparison.jpg Hope this clears some things up!!! o ya and if you both have samsung drives, again it was just luck of the draw.

Your friend probably has a newer xbox than you do. Newer ones work with anything. Try using a CD-RW disc
