  • I don't think that fear ever goes away. I'm in a public speaking class this semester and I'm about to give my third speech. I'm still really nervous and I don't think nervousness ever goes away. You just have to think of that nervousness as excitement, because once you get up there to give this speech it goes over a lot better for the audience if you look confident and excited rather than like you think you're going to die. Easier said than done, I know. I'm still working on this problem as well.
  • Just pretend that everyone in the audience is naked. =)
  • Seriously, and I know this will sound pretentious, but practice your speech so that you know it forward and back. That way, when it's time for you to give your speech, you'll be ready to speak and won't freak out about blanking. Also, it allows you to focus on breathing. Oh, and you can just stare at a spot on the back wall. It looks like you are making eye contact, without the pressure of actually doing it. Whatever you do, though, DO NOT LOCK YOUR KNEES. That will make you pass out.
