I watch very little primetime TV anymore, but the shows I did watch this past year were Heroes, Medium, and some of the CSI and Law and ORder stuff. I vote for Heroes.

The BBC 9 o'clock News - it's on every night and there's a new story line every time.

I mostly watch scifi and fantasy, so, for current sci-fi, I'd pick LOST. for non sci-fi: Ugly Betty. I like gothic fantasy, but since the end of Buffy and Angel, and now Dresden files is canceled, there isn't much out there.
