  • First, congratulations! Secondly: I found it useful to learn musical notation first. Personally, I did grade 1-3 piano before I started playing the keyboard. At the time I hated it, but I found it helped me play well with both hands, and improved my coordination, aswell as learn the musical notation. However, If you feel you want to learn yourself, you will find it hard to do without any instruction. You may learn basic tunes, but you won't progress much. Ofcourse, this is only just a personal opinion, from someone who has played keyboard as a hobby for 5+ years, non-professionally. Play around with your keyboard. It's amazing what keyboards can do these days. Here's me messin around: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZefEczkhEo
