  • I have heard that drinking beverages out of a can might cause this, because the cans can be stored where he are subject to bugs and critters that leave things behind. Gross, right? I'll have a glass please.

  • hi heath3r, Consuming anything that is in the seed or nut family (e.g walnuts, peanuts, sunflower seeds, etc..) actually promote outbreaks. THis is because these foods contain a high Arginine/Lyine ratio. You can check for yourself at ‘http://www.herpes.com/Nutrition. Shtm’ that the only foods that you should avoid contain a high arginine/lysine ratio (nuts, and seeds) and all others are ok to eat without worrying too much about an outbreak. So simply avoiding these foods do benefit. I got some more good news though heart3r :) .. you're able to go to GNC and purchase a Lysine supplement, in the pill form, for about $10 a bottle. You would need to consume anywhere from 1 gram to 9 grams a day depending on whether you're maintaining or getting an outbreak. I hope this helps..Let me know how this works out for you.. Betojr

  • I used to get them after having a fever.. I was told by my doctor that a cold sore is in the family of herpes
  • i have one now, this time it had to come from stress.
  • A cold sore is an outbreak of oral herpes. The herpes virus is usually suppressed by your immune system, but anything that lowers your immune system can give the virus the opportunity to pop up and cause a sore. Things that lower the immune system include: -stress -lack os sleep -alcohol/drugs -suburn to the face -underlying problems such as anaemia (especially women) -being 'run down' -having another infection - there is a good reason we call them COLD sores and FEVER blisters. I always get an attack when I have a cold. -bad diet - foods high in arginine such as nut can be a trigger. Sugar also suppresses the immune system for several hours - I get outbreaks if I eat too much chocolate For me, the worst triggers are lack of sleep and having a cold, closely followed by having a chocolate binge.
