Should election day be a holiday in the United States?

Well there would be a positive and a negative side to that. It could mean more people would be able to make it to the polls. Could also mean an excuse for people to miss it entirely and go do something fun. personally I think it should be a day off for anyone in a non-essential position, so long as they bring proof that they voted. that would cut down on people using the holiday meant for one purpose as an excuse to do something else.

Might be worth a try to see if we can get better voter turnout. If not, remove the holiday.
