Teeth chattering in guinea pigs is a sign of an unhappy guinea pig who is feeling threatened or angry and getting ready to fight. If your pig is doing this when he is alone, then something in the environment is annoying him severely -- perhaps the music you are playing is hurting his ears, or he perceives a threat such as a shadow that resembles an eagle. If he does it when theere is another pig around, he is telling that pig to 'back off or get bit'. If he does it when you hold him, it could mean you are hurting him in some way.

According to all that I have read when you have a guinea pig chattering its teeth putting it simply it means aggression, threat, and warning. You should stay away because it is angry and it is a warning to humans and other guinea pigs. This is actually one of the few times a guinea pig may bite, usually from fear. It could also mean that they are challanging another guinea pig as a male dominance thing. All in all it is not a good sign when you hear this and you may want to look into it, maybe all it wants is a room-mate :) you can also read all about it in the pages below: http://cavyspirit.com/sociallife.htm http://jackiesguineapiggies.com/guineapigbehaviour.html
