  • The batter is automatically out if 1st base is occupied, which it is in your scenario, so the catcher failing to catch the ball does not help him at all, he is out come what may. Assuming this out does not end the inning, the ball is still live so there is the opportunity for the man on 3rd to run to home if he chooses to... if he does manage to cross home plate, then it will be scored as a passed ball, so there is certainly no RBI awarded.
