Something easy that feeds a lot of people! Just a suggestion but if it were me I would go with: Sub sandwiches, chips and dip (3 or 4 different kinds of chip and dip at that!), A pan of brownies, a case of beer, and pop for the non beer drinkers. Or if you want more than sandwiches and chips you could go with Hamburgers and hotdogs, fries or chips and dip, baked beans, taco salad, and of course the same beer and pop. Hope that helps!

Go to Costco (or the frozen section of your local grocery store) and get lots of appetizer stuff that you can just defrost or toss in the oven. They are really good and there is a huge selection of stuff you can get, and it's all really quick to make so you can visit with your guests instead of cooking. Plus different dips and chips (my favorite easy dip spread cream cheese in a dish, pour a can of no bean chili on top, the top with shredded cheese and bake/microwave until melty) and some bite size desserts (also from frozen section!).

I had a large dinner party where I supplied pita bread and used them as crusts for pizza...and then just had bowls and bowls and bowls of every type of ingredient for people so that they could make their own pizza...made it so that I didn't have to worry about dinner when the guests were actually there...I could enjoy their company.

Warm weather or cool? any way. if its warm weather go for chicken dark 1/4s done in the oven ahead of time then kept in the slow cooker with BBQ sauce, Pineapple slaw, and beans with cornbread. Chilled fruit to follow. for a cool weather event Get sandwich rolls or french bread, and all the stuff for meatball subs. serve an Italian style soup as a starter and let guests prepare their own subs. for a finisher offer a Berry crunch with good vanilla ice cream. Just Mike's opinion.

I would say hot dogs, its cheap & you can buy everything to go with it from the chili & chips & keep feeding a whole group without breaking your budget to much.

one fun thing we did a few times was to ask people to bring a half pound of different things and let them make their own kabobs and grill them. a couple people bring meat and others just bring say onions, or peppers, Mushrooms, ect.. This is fun 'cuz they have no Idea what you are up to until you break out the skewers. Note; if using bamboo skewers, soak them in water starting before the parade so they will not burn. I learned the most embarrassing way possible.

A huge pan of chilli with crusty bread. Its easy to make in huge quantities, not too expensive - you can cook it in advance and just reheat it on the night.
