Explain the situation to them and the affects of spraying the aerosol. They may not understand. Pray for them and their enlightenment.

If I were the asthmatic person then I would tell the person to stop because it's not good for me. If it continued then I would again tell them to stop. Should it continue more I would probably remove all of the aerosols from the house.

Kick the bum out or leave. This is life-threatening for anyone who knows anything about asthma! This is not fun- and-games..this is very serious stuff. It is comparable to someone feeding walnuts or pecans to someone who has an anaphylactic reaction to such foods..the insides swell up, you stop breathing and you die!

Leave the room.

What I would probably do first is make sure they were aware that it was a problem (Some people don't understand asthma and might not understand just how much of a problem this is, if you explain that it's a genuine medical issue they might start tobe more considerate). I would also buy some sticky labels and write on all house aerosols "Please remember Carmella is asthmatic and think before spraying this when she is around."

Good morning Carmella....I was recently diagnosed with asthma and my husband knowing that one of the things I am allergic to and one thing that triggers an episode is cigarette smoke still smokes around me at times. He quit smoking in the house a long time ago but when I go with him somewhere he smokes. The only thing I do is remind him how bad it makes me feel and limit my time going with him somewhere in his vehicle. If we are going long distances I insist we go in mine so he will not smoke. I would handle it with politeness and point out that it is a health issue and hopefully the person can have enough respect for you not to continue spraying the aerosols.

You've gotten great advice so far. The best thing you can do is educate and communicate. Get real basic if you have to. When you spray that stuff, I can't breathe. If I can't breathe, I'll die. Try to find alternatives to the aerosols. For example, find other ways to eliminate odors (but not candles due to the smoke they emit.) Ask people to use spray colognes, hairspray and other personal grooming items after they have left the house. Ask someone if s/he would be willing to try deodorant sticks or crystals instead of aerosol.

I would ask the reasons why that person did it cause they know i get so sick when they do it if the excuse of that person is believable and they ask for an apology then i would be ok with it if it was the first time.
