I have brand new PSone memory cards. Playing PSone games one PS2 console. Console will not recognise memory cards and therefore not save games. Console is not chipped/modified and other wise works perfectly

There is absolutely nothing wrong with your psx memory card even if it was from another manufacturer, and now what is happening is quite simple. Sony always wants more and more money and in doing so the customer had to buy the old psx memory card so he can save his progress in the old fat ps2. The new line PS2 Slim will play the psx game but you will never be able to save even if you have an original sony psx memory card!!!!!!!!! Why?? Here is the answer; Because sony wants the customers to spend more money buying the old psx games that they already have over the playstation network or for their psp. eventually sony will sell too many ps3's and psp's. I know it is a heartbreaking news but this is how sony stealing our money over the years. This is how sony got bigger and bigger over the years.
